Starting with the role:
We are seeking a Senior Market Risk Analyst to lead the design and implementation of the market risk framework supporting the P&L and risk profile of our physical and derivative trading activities. In this role, you will develop P&L attribution and exposure models, enhance risk transparency for Senior Management, and oversee daily market risk monitoring and reporting.
During your day you will:
- Design and build the models required for accurate P&L and exposure mapping across the company portfolio (oil products trading / refinery positions).
- Assist the Risk Data analysts in the configuration of the ETRM system to ensure it correctly reflects complex commercial and refining exposures.
- Support the development and implementation of formal policies and ensure all trading activities remain within established limits.
- Lead the production of regular P&L and risk reports (with appropriate explanations / commentary) that provide transparency and actionable insights to Senior Management.
- Collaborate with trading teams to understand commercial positions and potential risks, while providing the necessary challenge to strategies and commercial decisions.
What you need to stand out:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or other quantitative discipline.
- Postgraduate qualification (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field is considered an advantage.
- At least 5 years of experience in Market Risk or Product Control within an oil trading, refining, or integrated trading and refining environment.
- Strong understanding of physical oil trading, refinery economics, refining margins, and oil derivatives (futures, swaps, options).
- Experience supporting the design and implementation of risk policies, limits and monitoring frameworks.
- Proficiency in ETRM systems (Amphora Symphony preferred), including the representation and monitoring of complex physical and derivative exposures.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including advanced Excel modelling. Experience developing analytical tools and automating risk processes using VBA, Python, SQL, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
